Summary description:

The Community Centre of the Municipality of Alimos operates with the co-funding of Greece and the European Union through the NSRF 2021–2027 and the

Regional Programme “Attica”, and is supervised by the Directorate of Social Services. The Community Centre serves as a reference point for

receiving, informing and serving citizens, providing services and connecting them with the social services of the Municipality of Alimos.

Indicatively:

  • Informing citizens about the available social programmes and referring them, as well as supporting them in joining those programmes.
  • Connecting and referring beneficiaries to services and bodies in the fields of employment, education, primary

health care and so on.

  • Counselling and psychosocial support for individuals and families, aimed at empowering them and reintegrating them into society.
  • Cooperation with, and referral of requests to, other structures and services operating within the geographical area of the “Community

Centre”, for example shelters for homeless people, shelters for abused women and victims of human trafficking, social tutoring centres, mental health structures, structures for people with disabilities, nurseries and crèches, programmes for older people and so on.

  • Cooperation with OPEKA (the Welfare Benefits Organisation) on welfare benefits and benefits for uninsured older people.
  • Organising events with an educational, communication and social content, such as: setting up neighbourhood groups to take

community initiatives and involve citizens, organising training seminars on preventive medicine and healthy living conditions, networking with local bodies (schools, cultural associations, professional bodies and so on) for joint initiatives

for local development, tackling early school leaving and more.
